The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is holding regional workshops to present information on opportunities for local governments to help conserve gopher tortoises in Florida.
The goal of these workshops is to identify ways cities and counties can participate in protecting one of Florida’s threatened species. In addition, the FWC will discuss financial incentives available for local governments.
A workshop is scheduled for August 11, 2015 in Chipley Florida. Representatives from local governments in nearby counties are encouraged to attend. Landowners, developers, and members of the public that have an interest in gopher tortoise conservation are also welcome to participate. The workshop will be held at the Washington County Agricultural Center in Chipley (1424 Jackson Ave. Ste. A, 32428). The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at noon, central time.
The workshop is free, but registration is required, as space is limited. To register, please Contact Mark Mauldin at the UF/IFAS Washington County Extension Office; 850-638-6180 or email@example.com.
